Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
It’s a bit of a mouthful, but our Functional Movement Screenings (FMSs) form part of the introduction to working out at Hive Active. As part of your introduction and first session at to Hive Active, we’ll take the time to understand where you’re at on your fitness journey. This includes understanding: your current health current health and fitness status (both on paper and in a functional screening), what your goals are and what drives you, and if you’ve struggled with achieving your goals in the past we’ll also chat about why this happened and what we can do to help you succeed. At the end of the FMS, we have a fitness baseline that assists our coaches understand your needs and you have a starting point to build from.
CrossFit – Fundamentals vs Athletic
Delivered by our team of skilled coaches in a great team atmosphere, our two levels of HA CrossFit; Fundamentals and Athletic,have the same programming and scalability but are coached differently. Our Fundamentals classes are perfect for those starting out or recovering from injury or ill-health as they focus on technique, form and fun. Our coaches take extra time to explain the movements and monitor technique during the class to ensure you are working, strengthening and releasing the right muscles at the right time. We also monitor the load and intensity of everyone’s workouts to ensure you are working to your ability and not beyond it. If you love to push yourself to the max, then our next level in CrossFit training is for you. Our Athletics level classes are for members who have mastered the basics and want to work at a higher intensity. While there is still a focus on technique and form, our coaches (and your co-members) will have you pushing for that next PB, whether it’s for time, weight or max rep.
MetCon
Our Metabolic Conditioning (MetCon) sessions are 30 or 50 minute, high intensity sessions that work your cardiovascular system to the max. If you love calorie burning, heart rate boosting, sweat inducing interval workouts, MetCon is for you. If you’re new to Hive Active or pressed for time, our Express 30min MetCon classes are perfect for you. We recommend you arrive early to warm-up, as these sessions go from zero to max from the get go.
Strength & Conditioning
For those wanting an intensity boost to your training, Hive Active’s Strength Conditioning sessions are for you. Combining lifting and high intensity cardiovascular endurance, if you’re passionate about weight training and want to improve your form, gain strength, boost your power and achieve ongoing metabolic results throughout the day, these sessions are for you.Learn how to reduce injury and optimise your weight-lifting technique for faster results. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you go from ‘so-so’ to ‘super strong’ when you stick with these sessions.
Endurance

Get ready for a slow burn! Our 30min and 50min endurance sessions will help you build your engine; allowing you to work harder for longer.

Saturday Smash
Get ready to be put your fitness to the test! Our Saturday Smash workouts combine everything from cardio and gymnastics to powerlifting and Olympic lifting. Every Saturday brings something new, so get ready to get after it!
Core
We’re only as strong as our core, and we pay particular attention to the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles housed here during these weekly sessions. Be prepared for a mental and physical workout!
Yoga Class
Yoga
Whether you’re starting out, a true yoga enthusiast or somewhere in between, the weekly Vinyasa yoga class at Hive Active will have feeling stronger, more centred and focused. Designed to complement our CrossFit workouts, our yoga sessions focus on building strength and increasing flexibility; with emphasis paid to lengthening the body and aligning the spine. This allows you to grow your foundation of strength for better performance during our CrossFit  and other intense workouts. The yoga sessions are a must for those members wishing to find overall balance in their workouts.
School Holiday Programs
Fitness doesn’t need to stop just because school does. Hive Active runs CrossFit Teens Holiday sessions and they are a great way to try CrossFit . Similar to our term classes, these sessions are constantly varied – to keep teens on their toes – and cover:
Functional movement fundamentals
Metabolic conditioning, skills and strength training
Mobilisation for greater range of movement
Loads of fitness fun
Kids Classes
Ideal for future legends aged 8-12 years, our CrossFit Kids classes are designed to empower kids with healthy fitness habits whilst having fun, burning energy, and learning physical skills and functional movements.The program incorporates games, gymnastics, and metabolic conditioning exercises that increase proprioceptive abilities, and spatial and postural awareness. By teaching the skills and principles of movement in a team environment, we help kids become physically and mentally robust, and also establish the life skills needed for the rigours of childhood. Our classes are ideal for all levels of fitness, from kids looking to improve their general physical well-being, to those looking to gain an edge in their chosen sport.
Teens Classes
Empowering junior members with healthy fitness habits, our CrossFit Teens classes are designed for teenagers between 12-17 years of age, or for kids who have solid functional movement foundation and a healthy attitude for learning. Our CrossFit Teens classes incorporate gymnastics, strength work (scaled accordingly) and metabolic conditioning, and focuses on 3 fundamental aspects of functional movement – biomechanics, consistency in execution, and intensity.By teaching the skills and principles of movement in a team environment, we help teenagers become physically and mentally robust, and also establish the life skills needed for the rigours of teen life. Given the scalability of our workouts, our classes are ideal for all levels of fitness, from teens looking to improve their general physical well-being, to those looking to gain an edge in their chosen sport.
Open Gym
Hive Active offers limited access to our training facilities for Unlimited or PT members who are keen to workout at Hive Active but not participate in group training sessions. This includes Unlimited members who want to focus on a strength, cardio or mobilisation workout of their own or choose a WOD to run through by themselves, or for PT clients who want to put into practice a program developed by their personal trainer. It’s a great way to work on your weaknesses, supplement your training routine and keep your strength and fitness goals on track.
Personal Training
For a truly targeted approach to rehabilitation, strength conditioning and good fitness principles, you can’t beat a one-on-one session with one of the highly skilled personal trainers and exercise physiologists that call Hive Active home.Our qualified personal trainers take great privilege in joining you on your health and fitness journey. They will develop a comprehensive program that will continually evolve as you progress towards your goals so that each and every session is targeted, on-track and exactly what you need. They will be your guide, your motivator, the hand that supports you when you need a boost and celebrates with you at any high-five moment (big or small), and ultimately be your go-to guide to ensure you achieve the best fitness results. Personal Training sessions are an awesome way for beginners to learn the requirements of training, or for experienced gym-goers to take their fitness to the next level.
